Ingredients

Allantoin

this is the most important and most active natural ingredient found in the root of the comfrey herb. It is known for its stimulation of cell proliferation, healing wounds and stimulating the growth of healthy tissue. Thus it promotes skin cell regeneration and helps sensitive skin to become more resilient, counteracting dryness and cracking. Allantoin is a good ingredient for sensitive skin.

Aloe Vera extract

First aid for skin) is rich in anti-inflammatory, astringent, emollient, antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties, which makes it an excellent remedy for most forms of skin ailments. Not only does it relax and soothe, but it also helps protect against all those nasties that all you open water swimmers will be aware of, on your face.

Aqua

locally sourced Harrogate Spring Water is natural spring water, which is low in sulphates and nitrates, also well balanced in its mineral content.

Avocado Oil

this rich oil is high in Vitamins A, B1, B2, D and E. It contains essential fatty acids and amino acids to help rejuvenate and regenerate skin, as well as softens and hydrates.

Cetearyl alcohol

is not a traditional fermented alcohol, despite its name. Recovery Phase is ‘drying alcohol’ free. Cetearyl alcohol is actually a vegetable-derived fatty alcohol which helps stabilise the moisturiser and provides a velvety feel to the skin.

Cucumber extract

helps cool the skin, it contains ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and Caffeic acid. These nutrients help to soothe skin irritations and reduce swelling. It also soothes and nourishes the skin which is particularly beneficial after exercise.

Evening Primrose oil

has a high GLA (Gamma Linoleic acid) content, it contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C and Salicylic acid. Natural oils can stimulate the skin to function better and create better circulation. They soften the skin and make it pliable, helping it to retain its own moisture more effectively.

Ginkgo Biloba

is known for its great revitalising, stimulating, firming and powerful antioxidant qualities. It helps prevents the weakness in capillary cell walls, especially important after the dilation and stresses the faces capillaries get during vigorous exercise.

Lactic acid

again do not be put off by its name. It is derived from milk and bathing in milk was ‘an age old’ beauty treatment popularised by Cleopatra. Lactic acid is a highly effective moisturiser containing AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy acids) which when applied topically (to the skin) stimulates collagen synthesis, boosting skin elasticity. It has also been used to adjust the pH of Recovery Phase cream to be in harmony with the skins natural pH of 5.5.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)

encourages the production of natural emollients, that soften the skin and help it to stay hydrated. It is useful for increasing elasticity of the skin, as well as the treatment of wrinkles. Vitamin B3 helps strengthen and support the skin’s barrier function.

Olivem

is a new mild vegetable emulsifier, it is natural, PEG (Polyethylene glycol) free and soap free. Olivem is derived from Olive oil, with lipids that show the highest compatibility with our own skin. Hence its easy penetration of the skin, reduction of water loss and silky feel. Being very similar to human sebum it provides retention of the skin moisture and increases the active ingredient’s resistance to water and sweat.

Panthenol (pro Vitamin B5)

this active ingredient converts to Panthenoic acid on contact with the skin, which is an important component in the energy cycle of the cell. It attracts water into the upper layer of the skin, effectively moisturising and softening. Moreover, Panthenol promotes epithelisation, enhancing skin regeneration.

Preservative: Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol

every water-based product needs a preservative to prevent bacteria or fungi growing in it. We have used a low amount of this naturally derived preservative to extend this products shelf life. We have avoided the unpopular Parabens preservatives (linked with cancer concerns) and other less natural preservatives.

Rosehip Oil

this is a truly amazing ingredient, rich in skin loving nutrients to improve overall skin condition. It contains Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, vital for healthy skin, yet not naturally produced by the body. This oil moisturizes and softens; it promotes elastin and collagen levels to increase, improving elasticity. It also contains Beta Carotene, a nutrient key for maintaining healthy skin, aiding skins renewal and repair. Rosehip is great for scars, redness, spots and skin blemishes.

Shea Butter

is a wonderfully rich moisturiser with natural sunscreen properties. Shea contains Vitamins A, E and F. These are particularly helpful for damaged skin either by sun or general pollution. Vitamin F is uniquely found in high quantities and it is Vitamin F that acts as a rejuvenator to the skin. Shea butter penetrates the skin without clogging pores, allowing the skin to breathe.

Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

this is a fantastic ingredient for skin moisturisers for the active, outdoor person. Vitamin E is known as a ‘protector’, due to its ability to quench free radicals. It is a powerful antioxidant, relieving the ‘oxidative stress’ exercise and sunlight can induce on your skin, protecting your DNA and collagen. Vitamin E moisturises and rejuvenates the skin. It has anti-inflammatory, healing and anti-aging benefits. It works well in combination with Vitamin A, found in Avocado and Evening primrose oils, found in Recovery Phase Rehydration Cream.

Vegetable Glycerine

derived from organic vegetable oil (not palm oil or coconut oil), this is a natural humectant (draws moisture from the air), replacing moisture to the skin surface and having water retaining properties.

Vitamin C

is a powerful antioxidant (mops up dangerous free radicals*), and an anti-inflammatory agent. It stimulates collagen synthesis, improving elasticity. Vitamin C is essential for the formation of collagen. Collagen is a protein and the main ingredient in the fibres, which make up our connective tissue, which partly makes up the outer layer of our skin. The collagen fibres, together with elastin fibres and normal levels of moisture, give the skin its pliability and tone. It works well in combination with Vitamin E and A. Recovery Phase has the gentler form of Vitamin C, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate with superior percutaneous absorption and stability.

Zinc Oxide

Zinc Oxide stimulates tissue repair and helps reduce redness. It has excellent anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, as well as being a soothing anti-irritant. It helps rebalance your skins sebum levels and accelerates re-epithelialization (wound healing). Zinc Oxide works well as a barrier on the skin surface, and also as a natural sun protector against ultra violet light.
